Fun in the bath

(I think I had my finger over the microphone after the first few seconds. Ooops!)

Daddy Daughter Dance

Mike took Isabella to the Daddy Daughter Dance that MWC had the weekend before Valentine's day. They had a blast & danced nearly the whole time (besides taking a break to eat snacks which Isabella was excited about as well). It took a lot out of her... she went to sleep really fast that night!

An interview with a 3 year old

Stole this from Nikki... thought it would be fun to ask Isabella!

me: What kind of job do you think Jackson will have when he grows up?
Isabella: A dog job
me: What does love feel like?
Isabella: I don't think it feels like anything.... does it feel like your friends?
me: When you grow up, where will you live?
Isabella: At my own house... but what about if I start missing you?  What about if I start acting like I want to come home? (she asks this very teary-eyed!)  Can I stay with you when I come home?  (I hope she always feels this way!)
me: Of course!  If you could be on princess, who would it be and what magical power would she have?
Isabella: Probably Sleeping Beauty.  Probably I should have Duck magical power & my Jackson should have dog magical power.
me:  What is duck magical power?
Isabella: It's when you turn somebody into a duck
me: What do you want to be when you get big?
Isabella: I want to be a princess when I get big.  Because princesses are a girl... and my daddy can be the King.
me: Who is your favorite grown up/ big person?
Isabella: Mommy, are you a big person?
me: yes
Isabella: You are my favorite big person.
me: Who is your favorite baby?
Isabella: Jackson
me: Do you want any more brothers or sisters?
Isabella: Ya
me: What would you name your brothers or sister
Isabella: Probably I should name it Declan (our friend Tiffany's baby)
me: How old do you think Daddy is?
Isabella: 29 old
me: What is your favorite thing to do?
Isabella: Jump & skip

OKC Philharmonic Discovery Children's Concert

As an early Valentine's Celebration, Isabella & I went to the Oklahoma City Philharmonic Discover Series Concert at the Civic Center. We arrived an hour early to participate in the fun things they had set up for the kids in the lobby. Isabella got to try out various instruments (bells, tamborine, trombone, & violin to name a few), get a picture taken & dance with Phil the penguin (she got upset when she had to stop dancing with him when other children wanted to get their picture taken with him!), as well as an craft project. It was lots of fun. Then we went in the auditorium to find our seats and wait for the concert to start. The theme of this concert was music in motion so while the orchestra played the songs, they had various dancers on stage dancing... the mambo, disco, tap dance, Irish Dance, can-can, and swing. It was very entertaining! We are definitely looking forward to attending more concerts in the future!

Jackson is 9 months old!

Another month gone by & Jackson is now 9 months old! Counting down 3 months til he turns one... the plans have begun for his party & will be here before we know it!

This past month Jackson has really been enjoying eating solids... he never appears to be full! He LOVES peas & the Happy Baby puffs, carrots not so much, baby oatmeal not at all, apples & pears okay, and he likes green beans. And he definitely still prefers chunks of food instead of pureed food. We're still at 2 teeth on bottom with no others in sight... very different from Isabella who just kept popping them out. But at least I don't have to deal with teething with all the winter illnesses we've been having.

As far as mobility goes, we aren't off & crawling yet. Which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. I know he'll be running soon enough, so I'm in no rush to have to child proof the house! He does get up on his knees, shins, & hands & bounces a bit... but he's not commiting to it yet. I wonder if it might be our hard floors & him always having his legs covered (which makes it pretty slippery). I've found him on his back/belly a lot from him falling over from this knee/hand position. And we don't even have a rug for him to practice on except in Isabella's room. Ah well... he'll get there. He does scoot quite well & can get across the room that way pretty good although slow (which is good!).

He's started clapping & I've seen him wave a couple of times. He gets so excited if you clap & say "yay!" He loves to take baths with his sister. His little face just lights up when he sees her come into the tub. And she's pretty happy to join him too. He has lots of fun splashing the water but then acts shocked when he gets water in his face. :) But he keeps going to perform for mommy & to get more laughs.

Sleep is still a major work in progress... that's all I'll say about that!

Snow Storm #2

We had our 2nd snow "storm" of this winter (pretty unusual) & Isabella again had a blast playing in it. This time we let her go out in the back yard by herself so we didn't have to freeze along with her. ;)
